Microsoft announced this week their new Outlook.com email service.Microsoft realized that Hotmail and Live.com email services were outdated, so they built a brand new email service, from the ground up.  They designed it to look and feel like the new “Metro” look they are introducing with the Windows Phone and Windows 8.Here is what you need to know:

  1. You can use this service with your existing @Hotmail.com, @live.com, or @msn.com email address.  Simply go to www.outlook.com and sign in with your account.

  2. If you want an @outlook.com email address, you can request one at the website.

  3. It has social media integration.  You will be able to view status updates and content from Facebook, Google, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

  4. Outlook.com also comes with free web-based versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.  You will save your documents in Windows newly revamped SkyDrive service, with 7 GB of storage for free.
