The introduction of Find My iPhone several IOS versions ago, was a great addition, but it only worked as long as your phone was turned on and still had battery juice left. Once the battery died, there was no way to find your lost or stolen iPhone.
With IOS 8, a new switch has been added, called Send Last Location. When this is turned on, you can find out where your iPhone was when it lost it’s last little drop of battery life.
Hopefully you all have turned on Fine My iPhone. Send Last Location is turned off by default, so to turn it on, go to: Settings, iCloud, Find My iPhone. Flip the switch for Send Last Location to the on position and you are good to go.
